Headaches

Many different types…

There are many causes of headaches, and many different types of headaches. Not all headaches are migraines!

It’s important to determine the cause of the headache, since headache treatments vary depending on the cause.

Some common causes are…

Stress, inadequate water intake, problems with the muscle or joints in the neck, TMJ or jaw problems, tension within the dura, cranial tension, chemical sensitivities, and many more.

Treatments

Treatments vary depending on the cause, but once the type of headache is determined treatment is tailored to that specific type. For example, issues with the dura, joint or muscle in the neck, and cranial tension will respond favorably to cranial work, dural release, and SOT chiropractic work. Headaches involving stress will respond well to neurotransmitter and adrenal support. Headaches involving the TMJ and jaw will respond well to treatment focused on those areas, which usually involved cranial work, and possibly increasing the vertical dimension of the bite or addressing occlusal problems. Headaches caused by chemical sensitivities will respond well to detox work involving metals, chemicals, or microbes.

Dr. Scoppa is the only doctor in the area that has the training to evaluate and deal with all of these different headache sources. Getting to the root cause of the problem is imperative to finding a real solution.
